Some children, as young as 11 years young, have been arrested by police in the last two years for gun crimes, a FOI request by the ‘Daily Mail’ uncovered.
The number of under 18s taken into custody by Police has gone up by more than 25%.
Last year alone 553 children were arrested over this offence. But, as more than half the forces didn’t comply with the request for information, the true figure is thought to be much higher. At the top of the league table stands
- Metropolitan Police 215
- West Midlands 82
- West Yorkshire 53
- Avon and Somerset 23
last on the list is Northumbria with 8 children.

Metropolitan Police said that of the 215 under-18 gun crime suspects last year that it arrested there were 12 children aged 13 and three who were aged just 12.
Whilst some blame an increasingly lawless society, the biggest proportion of offences clearly take place in Greater London, the realm of Sadiq Khan as Police and Crime Commissioner. source
As a multiple parent myself I compare the atmosphere of raising children today with how it was decades ago. We need to look into all the reasons why kids get involved with gun crime and not just blame the manufacturers of luxury goods about how easy it is to steal them as Sadiq Khan did with knife crime, which is also rife in Greater London, where he blames phone manufacturers. Apparently gun crime makes only 1% of all crime.
