are seen as a growing problem for various reasons

• they are faster than we think
• they are silent
• they can move unpredictably
• get used for theft/crime

Many couriers use them, but not all are legal. The problem may be for the courier that they unwittingly purchase an e-bike but don’t ride it legally and it gets confiscated suddenly.

• E-bike must have a max motor output of 250w with a top power-assisted speed of 15.5mph
• bike must be fitted with a plate where you easily read the manufacturer’s name, motor power output and battery power
• E-bike must be pedal assisted and not operated by a throttle
