Chinese Mega Embassy Protest

We attended the last protest prior to the government’s decision over the Chinese Mega Embassy application.

It was not hard to notice that none of the Tower Hamlets Councillors from Aspire, Labour and Green attended. Councillor Peter Golds was present to support Kemi Badenoch supporting this protest.

The question of national security has been raised by many corners of the UK landscape and by foreign politicians too.

The Chinese Mega Embassy will overlook the Tower of London and dwarf it in it’s shadow. Do we want this? NO.

Most protestors were native and ethnic people who suffered from Chinese oppression and see the UK as their last place of hope. Local Labour and Aspire and Green supporters all stayed away and snubbed this gathering, failing to support the local residents from the Royal Mint Residents Association who vowed to fight the proposal, even if it is sanctioned by the Labour government.

We found the ignorance of both the Labour and Aspire Councillors astonishing, a sign of political allegiance with the Chinese regime whilst approving a Community Safety Strategy that favours left-wing politics.

support the local residents legal challenge here.

Whilst I personally have a long history with Neighbourhood Watch and supported it for over a decade, I had lead the support of opposition to the Chinese Mega Embassy as recently as December 2022, when the Tower Hamlets Neighbourhood Watch Association was led by me and chair Martin Shortis, as founding trustee and supported by Deputy Mayor Talukdar at the Town Hall meeting where the first planning application was refused.

This was I, Johanna Kaschke with Deputy Mayor Talukdar and current trustee of THNWA, Syed Shofor Ali. All supported the official objection submitted by THNWA at the time but now no longer oppose the Chinese Mega Embassy. Johanna then left THNWA to found Tower Hamlets Crime Watch, an independent organisation.

Since then the political landscape has drastically changed. I left THNWA as their new leadership is in full support of Tower Hamlets Council who now support the Chinese Mega Embassy.

We, Tower Hamlets Crime Watch have warned people that Neighbourhood Watch in Tower Hamlets is now in the hands of people who support not only Tower Hamlets Council’s politically prejudiced Community Safety Plan but also the Chinese Mega Embassy. The admin of Tower Hamlets Neighbourhood Watch, located at a shared office in Samuda Estate, will see all your details as soon as you tick Neighbourhood Watch from your Met Engage account.

It’s like a vicious circle.

Sign up to Met Engage, connect to Neighbourhood Watch, get administered by left-wing friendly administrators who fully support Tower Hamlets Council and it’s stance towards the Chinese Mega Embassy. Since I left THNWA, we have never heard any opposition to the Chinese Mega Embassy from them.

People keep on warning about national security and that’s what’s at stake. At the local level, very apparently, Met Engage connects to THNWA that is run by people who support the Chinese Mega Embassy. Because Neighbourhood Watch is run by THNWA from the Samuda Estate.

Our Safer Neighbourhoods Page connects you to both Met Engage and Met Police website options.
