Tower Hamlets is very untidy in places and residents got fed up with a permanent state of scruffiness of their streets, parks, estates.

Care to be taken

Hazardous materials like drugs, drug paraphernalia must not be touched. Any knives, sharp items like scissors, out of context tools like screwdrivers, could have been used as weapons or break-in tools, any guns. Do not touch.

When you find any dangerous items or abandoned car number plates do the following:

1. Immediately inform the group leader
2. take a picture but do not touch
3. call 101 or use online systems like @metcc to report the find.
4. in case of large knives, guns, immediately call 999

We have a supplier of free Litter pick equipment. It remains to be established by each group where they can deposit accumulated bags of picked rubbish. Best to ask the Council about this. Here is a list of litter picking events in 2026 organised by Tower Hamlets Council.

CleanUpUK is a supplier of free materials via litter pick hubs in Tower Hamlets. Any community group can conduct their own litter pick and ask for free equipment to do this.
