What is streetSafe for?

Literally any fears of safety you have on any street. Report here

We’ve had a lot of discussion on our Facebook page with regards to people feeling unsafe around hotels housing migrants. People tend to organise demonstrations to express their fears about this. This then leads to counter-demonstrations.

Regardless of how justified or well founded fears are, is not for us to judge. The fact is they exist and need addressing.

It is possible, to simply complete a StreetSafe report about your fears of safety when you or your children walk the streets, pinpoint locations, state reasons and Met Police should increase patrols around that area if enough people complete the StreetSafe forms and pinpoint the same concerns about any particular area.

Ward Panels

also determine special areas, which require more police attention and increased patrols in any area of concern. Ward Panels meet only every 3-4 months. Sudden problem areas can arise quickly and it is in the best interest of all involved if problems can be avoided. See our Safer Neighbourhoods Page for more details of your area.

Demonstrations

are allowed, can be restricted by police conditions but take a lot of time to organise and attend. Not trying to influence choices, a suggestion would be to pinpoint areas of concern and stipulate police to increase patrols generally in an area of concern, using the StreetSafe reporting method.
