Tower Hamlets Crime Watch Facebook page celebrated 17. Birthday on 14. November 2025. It was created and maintained by Johanna, who is a tireless community volunteer. Our current organisation exists since 2023.

To join us as member
  1. Online procedure
    • please finish the Verification form and/or attend our next meeting. A meeting with our chair can be arranged on request.
    • You must be willing to learn about training with ACT or similar security services and Prevent Awareness training qualifications such as crime prevention.
    • Your application will be considered.
    • Upon approval
    • joining donation (unless you apply for exemption)
      • choose to donate by bank transfer or
      • via cheque or
      • to pay by cash.
      • All payments will get a receipt.
    • If we decline your membership application, you will get the reason within 28 days in writing.
  1. In Person procedure
    • For people not known to us
    • Apply to come to our meetings by completing the registration form, link on social media or our Event Calendar page
    • Bring proof of address or ID to the meeting
    • complete a form of membership application
    • commit to completing the training courses shown from ACT or HM Government, all free of charge.
    • pay a donation of not less than £5 and no more than £30, if you can, exceptions pensioners on Pension credit, or students up to age of 25.
    • We reserve the right to decline your membership application within 28 days.

Help us to achieve safer, happier communities. We offer free membership for students aged 18-25 or pensioners on Pension Credit recipients proof required. Others can state a case why they can’t afford to pay a one off donation of £5-£30.

  • Victim support self-help sheet for scam and fraud victims

    • free support for victims of crime, ASB.

With full respect of all Data Protection laws as they are in power within the United Kingdom at present, we pledge that

  • all printed data is held within locked premises
  • all data on mobile devises is secured with 2-step verification and the use of Authenticator app, face recognition
  • No joint WiFi or data networks are used to connect to the Internet
  • All data protected by latest operating systems, firewalls and anti-hack devices.
  • No data access for those without security clearance.
  • We are fully GDPR compliant, see gov advice.

Privacy

In lieu of a full statement, please note

  • we do not share any data with Met Police, Tower Hamlets Council, THNWA, Ourwatch, OWL.
  • We refer members to Tower Hamlets Police SNT Ward Panels on request only.
  • We do not create any watch schemes where members see each other’s address details.
  • We support referral to Tower Hamlets Council Safer Neighbourhood Events on request of members only.
  • No people other than our subscribers have access to our live chats and services.
  • Our WhatsApp Channel does not show details of subscribers.

Tower Hamlets Crime Watch community enables topic based discussions groups if there is a demand and a moderator volunteers to run the group.

WhatsApp and Teams group for messaging always admin posts when new messages are available and

  • the WhatsApp chat is normally available daily. Chat only for confirmed members only, no strangers allowed.
