Young people and vulnerable residents are quite regularly exploited to do the dirty work for County Lines drug networks.
For young people it starts with the offer of new trainers and friendly support for personal issues but can then continue by asking people to hold phones to start with, then hide items, transport items to another area etc. Young people may be asked to accept money into their accounts and pass it on.
For vulnerable residents cuckooing means a County lines drug dealer ring gets into a person’s abode and uses it to store, deal or meet.
Missing people
The charity Missing People has helplines to support young people up to the age of 25 who find themselves in a sticky situation they cannot get out of.
The County Lines Coordinator Centre has published videos to explain the situation and Missing people has posters to publish for young people to see in public places.
Safecall
Please use the posters in your area to give young people a chance to seek help. See link to the pdf posters but we also provide picture format here for downloading or use on mobile phones.
